Marilyn Monroe: The Exhibit showcased thousands of never-before seen Marilyn
artifacts
INDIANAPOLIS – CMG Worldwide, the agent for the Marilyn Monroe estate, was proud to present this historic event. “Marilyn Monroe: The Exhibit” is the world’s largest collection of never before seen Marilyn Monroe artifacts ever assembled. This exhibit, on display at the CMG Legends Museum, features thousands of intimate pieces and personal property belonging to the most glamorous icon of the 20th century. Among the items in this stunning exhibit are everything from jeans, bathing suits and evening gowns, to Marilyn’s hot rollers, cosmetic cases and favorite bottles of perfume.
CMG Worldwide hosted Marilyn Monroe: The Exhibit from December 16-19 in their Indianapolis Legends Museum. This extensive museum was filled with items which CMG CEO Mark Roesler has been collecting since he founded the company 23 years ago. For this special event, the entire building was also solely devoted to Marilyn Monroe.
CMG is the worldwide leader in intellectual property rights management, including those belonging to Monroe, whose estate has been managed by the company for more than a decade. Mark Roesler co-chaired the event along with Don Marsh, CEO of Marsh Supermarkets, Inc.
Proceeds from this event were donated to the Center of Hope, a charitable organization that helps victims of sexual assault.
A small sampling of what museum visitors saw included the blonde wig Marilyn wore in “Some Like it Hot,” a diamond engagement bracelet, Marilyn’s monogrammed red luggage, the hat, gloves, purse and shoes Marilyn wore when she married Joe DiMaggio in 1954, and Marilyn’s teddy bear, on which she put a special string of pearls.
A Press Preview Night, held on Thursday, December 16 from 7-9:00 PM, included a complementary tour through the museum by Marilyn historian and collector, Robert W. Otto.
The exhibit officially kicked-off with an invitation-only, black-tie VIP Gala on Friday, December 17. The event included Marilyn Merlot wine, cheese, hors d'oeuvres and live music.
General admission began on Saturday. Doors opened to a line of enthusiastic visitors that gathered well before the noon-time start. Sounds of anticipation and excitement filled every corridor of the Legends Museum. Visitors were more than impressed with the enormous collection, as well as the personal stories accompanying many of the items. In addition to complementary remarks about the exhibit itself, many enjoyed seeing the illustrious architecture of the CMG Worldwide corporate headquarters.
When the doors closed on Sunday evening, marking the end of this once-in-a-lifetime exhibit, the event had proved to be a huge success. CMG Worldwide was proud to present “Marilyn Monroe: The Exhibit,” honoring the irrepressible and unforgettable Marilyn Monroe, and earning a substantial amount of money for charity at the same time. It was a venture that with which we think Marilyn would have been proud.
